Senior Electrical Systems Test Engineer - The successful candidate 1) will have completed an EE degree with PE registration, or 2) will have obtained an engineering technology degree with PE registration and have 8 years minimum experience. The candidate will have a power systems design or analysis background; utility substation testing experience; and generator, switchgear or UPS design, manufacturing or start-up experience.
This position is responsible for providing immediate leadership with start-up, testing and commissioning of complex power delivery systems including: utility and customer-owned medium voltage distribution substations; low and medium voltage generators and generator paralleling control systems; static and rotary uninterruptible power modules, systems and components; low and medium voltage motors and motor control systems; protective relaying and miscellaneous control systems.
The professional in this position will provide expertise and leadership with: data capture and analysis of harmonics-related issues and problems; miscellaneous trouble-shooting, problem solving and control circuit analysis; forensic evaluations; client meetings; project quotations; detailed report writing and presentations.
Desired skills for this position include demonstrated knowledge of electrical power distribution and protection components and systems; ability to understand and resolve complex power, relaying and harmonic-related problems; experience with discreet and multi-function relays and relay test equipment; excellent computer skills, plus writing and verbal skills; a strong sense of customer service; and the ability to meet deadlines.
Electrical Systems Test Engineer - The successful candidate 1) will have a 4-year EE degree and EIT certification, with the ability to successfully pass the PE exam, or 2) will have an engineering technology degree and practical experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate 3 to 5 years’ experience in power systems design or analysis background; utility substation testing experience; or generator, switchgear or UPS design, manufacturing or start-up experience.
This position will be responsible for assisting and providing leadership with start-up and testing of complex power delivery systems including: utility and customer-owned medium voltage distribution substations; low and medium voltage generators and generator paralleling control systems; static and rotary uninterruptible power modules, systems and components; low and medium voltage motors and motor control systems; and protective relaying and miscellaneous control systems.

Associate Electrical Systems Test Engineer - The successful candidate 1) will have a 4-year engineering degree, or 2) a 2-year engineering technology degree with ability to take the EIT exam. The person in this position will assist with acceptance and maintenance testing of the following electrical devices and systems: low and medium voltage cables, transformers and circuit breakers; low and medium voltage electrical system protective devices and systems; low and medium voltage generators and generator paralleling control systems; uninterruptible power modules, systems and components; and low and medium voltage motors and motor control systems. Other skills and activities may include data capture and analysis of harmonics-related issues and problems; miscellaneous trouble-shooting, problem solving and control circuit analysis; client meetings; project quotations; report writing and presentations.

Associate Power Systems Engineer - The successful candidate for this position will have obtained a BEE or BSE from an ABET accredited university, and successful completion of the EIT or FE exam is encouraged. The ability to obtain security clearance is required. The successful candidate will perform the following duties in the Power System Studies group: establish and define project scope; perform power system studies for industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities as required by project specifications: Short Circuit Studies, Electrical Equipment Evaluation, Overcurrent Protective Device Coordination, Arc Flash Analysis, Load Flow Analysis, Motor Starting Study, and Harmonic Analysis. The engineer in this position will also develop the power distribution system model database (within the scope of work and using modeling software) including calculations, analysis, and evaluations according to the requirements of the project.
The person chosen for this position will generate written study reports that detail system analysis, methodology, calculation results and the significance of results to system operation. Study reports should distill lengthy analysis results into a comprehensible executive summary with applicable action items, and all pertinent supporting output reports should be included as part of the finished study report. All study reports and deliverables must conform to established industry-accepted standards and HPD standards. The engineer in this position will respond to requests for quotes, working with other HPD personnel to assure the quote is properly prepared. The engineer in this position will attend and conduct client meetings as needed to provide customer support. Tasks required this position will be completed with supervision.
Substation Engineer - The successful candidate for this position 1) will have obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and 2) will have at least 5 years’ experience in substation testing, operation, physical layout, design and construction for a cooperative, municipal or investor owned utility. Professional registration or the ability to become registered is a plus.
This position is responsible for maintenance testing, new startup, and design of high voltage electrical substations, primarily from 46 to 230 kV. Duties for this position include maintenance testing of existing substation relays and equipment; testing and commissioning of new substation relaying and equipment; detailed specification and design; management of assigned projects; and job cost accountability including: estimates of cost, pricing, budget preparation, and direction of work to meet budget. The engineer in this position must have superior oral and written communication skills, plus the ability to interact and work comfortably with clients and associates of various backgrounds and abilities.
Electrical Engineer--Entry Level Technician - The successful candidate for this position will have obtained an EET degree and will possess a basic understanding of electrical energy and current flow. A desire to learn and develop electrical skills is required, and knowledge and training in the use of electrical test and measurement instruments is desirable. Verbal and written skills are important to assure flawless documentation and elegant presentations of test results and analyses. Computer skills are a plus, and knowledge of MSWord and Excel is expected. Moderate travel is required (30-50%) and the position often requires lifting of heavy electrical test equipment.

The candidate will have obtained his EIT certification and will have obtained (or will be able to obtain) professional registration. The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated the ability to present project proposals and manage large and complex commissioning projects in mission critical facilities. Requirements include knowledge of mechanical design and operation of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fuel systems, and control systems. Strong verbal and written skills are important to assure flawless documentation and elegant presentation of test results and analyses. Interpersonal skills are required to successfully manage employees on large projects, and to interface with customers, contractors, engineers and manufacturers. The engineer in this position will also be expected to perform mechanical system analyses, including Mechanical Equipment/System Assessments, Due Diligence and Site Audits.
